If there is a pioneering event in recognizing the talent of young
designers, capable of transforming prototypes into cult pieces,
that’s the Salone Satellite. The first international event in the
world of design dedicated to those under 35 of years, since
1998, manufacturers and talent scouts who visit the Salone del
Mobile. Milan.

43 Every year new product prototypes for the home and office appear
at the Salone Satellite: furniture and lighting designed and produced
by business people related to the Habitat, such as design studios,
industrial design students, or architects.
Its founder and curator, Marva Griffin, created the event as a statement
of intention that valued the creative potential of young designers.
Needless to say, that many of the prototypes presented in previous
editions have entered production, and a high number of the 10.000
designers who have participated throughout these 22 years of experience
are now big names on the design scene. Let’s not forget that we
are talking about Milan.
Since 2010, the exhibition has been joined by the Salone Satellite
Award, another opportunity for facilitating contact between young
designers and companies.
THE PERMANENT COLLECTION OF THE SATELLITE
Inaugurated in 2018, permanently exhibits an anthology of products
that were part of the 20 Years SaloneSat Collection, selected
by Marva Griffin herself.
New designer pieces that will be exhibited in future editions will
expand the collection in the coming years.
