43 The Ministry of Science and Innovation from Spain has published
a study on the challenges and solutions that the habitat sector and the
materials it uses can provide in the fight against Covid-19. The Technological
Institutes Aidimme and Cetem, and the Design and Public Administrations
Working Group have participated in its creation.
The “sanitization” of areas, especially in the field of the contract business,
has become a priority objective for the return to a new normality.
Among the challenges addressed in the document entitled ‘Covid-19
Challenges and Solutions’, three main ones have been identified: the
detection of viruses on habitat surfaces, the decrease in the survival time
of the virus on them and, finally, the elimination of the virus from these
surfaces.
The study highlights the strength and dynamism of the Spanish habitat
sector, which is capable of developing and providing solutions that contribute
to preserving human health, from the materials it employs to the
use of furniture in the redistribution of spaces and the maintenance of
social distance.
