And in exchange, it received the so-called Nursing Home. Today, the Tabacalera houses the municipal offices and the nursing home has become the current Balneario de la Alameda. Its author, the architect Ramón Lucini Callejo, devised a curved floor plan, with a concave exterior façade, brick factory, presided over by an access portico in neo-classical lines. With its marked eclectic character, emphasized by the borders of blue and white porcelain, it forms a nineteenth century image that forms part of the architectural heritage of the city. Interior Spaces The interior surface of 1,000 m2 is articulated around two courtyards that illuminate and allow adequate ventilation of the main room, the current relaxation lounge. Carlos Serra has shaped large vegetable motifs in paper to cover the walls, facilitating the transition to the landscaped space of the inner courtyard. It has been furnished with pieces portraying exterior views in a clear modernist style, which manage to merge with the aesthetics of the building. And in what was the chapel of the nursing home, and where today one finds the thermal circuit, which combines showers, bathrooms, swimming pools, hot tubs, saunas and massage and treatment areas. It is quite a building for one that provides well-being and one that has been enhanced by an interior design that multiplies in a pleasing way its function as a transmitter of sensations.
