The E-Broder 3 project
Developed by the Textile Technological Institute,
Aitex, the E-Broder 3 project focuses on
the research and development of smart textiles,
using embroidery technology for home
automation applications as a production process.
This is a home automation system based
on textile sensors and actuators, capable of
analyzing the conditions of the home environment
and acting accordingly, in order to
increase the quality of life of its users. This
system will improve energy efficiency, reinforce
security, increase the comfort of the rooms
and control the operation of the facilities.
Among the results obtained, the following
results stand out, which in turn make up the
home automation system:
• Textiles capable of obtaining interesting parameter
data for the user through the approximation
of a mobile device.
• Smart textiles that can obtain the necessary
energy to operate wirelessly.
• Textiles capable of detecting the presence
or the pressure distributed over a surface by
integrating conductive embroidery.
• Textile articles that integrate sensors capable
of detecting movement, proximity, atmospheric
pressure, sound.
Development of textile articles with the capacity
to display notifications or light alerts
through text messages or images.
Through a highly automated process, the textile
prototypes obtained in the project have
been given a high added value that will allow
home textile, decoration, upholstery and contract
companies to increase their product
portfolio and become more competitive.
Advantages of smart textiles
Smart textiles offer a wide range of applications
aimed at improving comfort, health,
safety, energy efficiency and, ultimately, the living
conditions of users. The number of potential
users is expected to increase in the near
future as new techniques are applied to textiles.
Therefore, the products developed in the
E-BRODER 3 project will represent a notable
boost in the field of home automation and the
interconnection of household elements.
