Refuge in paradise
A current and relaxed design, which enables the guest to feel the unique experience of visiting the magnificent
beaches of Punta Cana, in the Dominican Republic, while maintaining the brand image required by AMR Resorts.
This concept was the starting point for the design studio, Room1804, that specializes in hospitality and the person in
charge of the project, the director of interior design, Luis Yunta.

The resort consists of a new building with
500 rooms and villas, as well as common
areas that include a convention area and a
spa. Room1804 managed the interior design
project for the rooms and common areas of
the hotel, with the exclusive enclave where the
hotel is located as a starting point and that
fact would be reflected in the rooms: this is
achieved thanks to the tones and textures that
were selected in order to bring calm, peace
and comfort to the rooms.
The Essence of the Dominican Republic
The hotel reflects the essence of the Dominican
Republic and in each of its rooms, the
pure essence of the Caribbean. Thematic restaurants
have been designed for the target
audience, turning each dinner and meal into
a new experience. The interior design project
for these rooms has been executed taking into
account local materials to optimize both the
budget and the execution of the work. “We
work hand in hand with local carpenters developing
custom-made furniture to promote
the sustainable development of the area,” explains
Yunta. “However, we also have suppliers
such as Casamía for rugs, Faro for lighting,
Caja de Ideas for decoration, cushions by Jover
and Escaremica for curtains” The director
of Interior Design at Room1804 has informed
us that all the materials and furniture were selected
with the resistance and durability of the
equipment in withstanding the tropical climate
of the Dominican Republic, sometimes really
extreme in terms of temperature and humidity,
as a fundamental requirement. “Combining
these qualities with the style we wanted for interior
design made us turn to trusted Spanish
suppliers, with whom we know we have all the
guarantees of success.”
The Macao Dreams Beach Punta Cana hotel
has been awarded the prize for the best development
of the year in Caribbean 2020, awarded
by The Caribbean Hotel & Resort Investment
Summit.
