RAMA. KRISTALIA RAMA. KRISTALIA
What is the next thing we will see from
Ramos&Bassols?
Fortunately, at the moment we are working
on many projects. A family of wooden chairs,
a new project for Bolia, for Kristalia we are
also working on a couple of new collections.
A very interesting injected plastic armchair
project, a very large `softseating´ project for
an Austrian firm..., all of them are underway
but I think the closest thing will be a new collection
of lamps for Vibia. I am sorry not to
name names but some are projects are in their
early stages and experience tells us that we
must be cautious.

The formalization process via the basic models
of the first ideas. The first models are
very conceptual, fast, intuitive and above all
flexible and they will be refined until the final
design emerges.
And speaking of sustainability and eco-design
and the circular economy in the habitat,
do you think the market is ready for them?
Although it is true that there is more awareness
about it, I think it is not ready yet. It is
necessary to ensure either that the sustainable
product has the same benefits and price as the
non-sustainable product, or that the consumer

is willing to make certain sacrifices (price,
aesthetics, comfort...) It is not easy, but I
think we are making progress.
Should design have among its objectives that
of making the world a better place?
Reflecting on that, and taking into account
that we in the consumer society are at the
beginning of the chain then surely, we should
make this commitment. But make no mistake,
the market rules and companies want to sell.
Companies hire us and if they do not have the
same objective, it will be difficult for us to
contribute our grain of sand.
A designer of your generation. Benjamin Hubert, I like him for the subtlety with which he works with shapes and for the diversity of different
areas in which he works. - Someone you would never design for. A compromising question, I don’t like to veto companies as long as they are
serious companies committed to design. - A client you haven’t worked for yet and would love to. Vitra. - What would you like to have invented?
Invention I don’t know what to say, there are so many things and so diverse: The wheel, the mop, the light bulb... – You favourite time of day. At
dawn when the house is still silent, before the daily activity begins. – You favourite time of day. The high mountains allow me to relax and think
without rushing. - A material to work with. Timber. - A legacy you want to leave. As a person, my legacy is my daughters, I hope to give them the
tools that allow them to be happy. As a professional I would like to have a coherent, honest career and one that lasts a long time.
