These ground-floor premises, with large windows facing the street providing
natural light, had a difficult element that had to be integrated into
the project: a large number of interior pillars. David Sebastià, architect
from Ebesta, explains that “a coating coupled to the wood, VIROC®
was used, a conglomerate material of wood fibres that was added to a
coloured cement, in this case black”. The combination of both achieves
an industrial look, while the over-crowding by the pillars is blurred, “with
the use of white lacquered mdf porticos, which are also used as decorative
/ indirect lighting.”
In a restaurant, acoustic insulation is essential, therefore, sound-absorbing
plates were installed on the ceiling and other vertical planes were
designed that combine aesthetic and acoustic functions: “they are fabric
screens that function as visual, decorative and acoustic dividers”. All the
decorative and functional elements have been expressly designed and
developed for this project, among which David Sebastià highlights the
frames / bottle rack on the wall and the reception / collection counter, “a
combination of black and white and a very elaborate exclusive design, to
which we dedicated a lot of time”.
